SEND A CARE PACKAGE

When fasting is unsafe, it is a mitzvah to eat. Even so, some people find it almost or completely impossible to eat on Yom Kippur. Many people describe feeling alone, ashamed, and disconnected from Jewish tradition and community.

No one should have to choose between safe ritual observance and Jewish belonging.

A gift to A Mitzvah to Eat builds a world where no one has to make that choice.

But now when you give, you can also send a care package directly to the individuals and communities who you want to support.

Here's what a care package has meant to people who received one:

"The care package for Yom Kippur (a bag, prayer, sticker, magnet, and supportive card) served as a needed physical reminder throughout the day that I am loved and supported, and that it is, in fact, a mitzvah for me to eat."

"I recently stepped down from residential care for an eating disorder and was still in a partial hospitalization program, so, as you can imagine, Yom Kippur was fraught with many layers of discomfort. The care package helped me feel more comfortable and even proud of performing the mitzvah to eat."

Your gift makes stories like these possible. There are two ways to give:

A) Send care packages to your choice of recipients:

Your gift will be partially tax deductible, aside from shipping and supply costs.

B) Donate care packages (fully tax deductible):

We will match your gift with someone unable to safely fast.

*Beginning on September 8th, we will add an additional $18 per order to cover expedited shipping and other increased costs.

Orders close on September 14th.
